A remarkable experience it was to connect with such an amazing and iconic woman. She was an absolute gem to work with!

I am truly inspired by the zest and hilariousness she encompasses through her perspective on life.

First stop was Barnes & Noble where I fluffed and puffed Joan before her book reading/signing. Off she went to Amazon and then the Triple Door for her comedy performances. Joining me for the evening’s adventures was Chrissy Wai-Ching of Wai-Ching Designs, gracing Joan’s wardrobe with expert care.

Joan shared a very nice compliment that she could tell I loved what I did by my energy and approach to what I do….”an artist with a passion for what I do best”. Wow, now that says a lot coming from the queen of timeless fashion and beauty!

That night I was reminded that laughter really is the best medicine in life. Thanks Joan and her manager, Graham, for an evening not to be forgotten!

The concept was Phoenix Rising so I used wire, extensions, and feathers to create hair sculpted to look like wings. Apparently there was a fire drill minutes after I left and the model and  photographer had to trek down 6 flights of stairs to await the fire department’s ok to return. Thankfully the wired hair held up through it all. This look turned out beautifully!

Nick has become an inspiration to me since the first day I saw him work his magic to transform the makeover models from drab to fab.  Held at The Studio, (a fabulous new training hair training facility in downtown Chicago).

 

 

The focus of the workshop was to take existing looks and transforming them using simple techniques, mindful creation, and thoughtful execution to improve the overall look of the client.

Throughout his demonstrations he gave tips and tricks from his expertise with the razor (for which he’s best known for), shared hilarious stories from behind the chair, and dished out inspiration to encourage every hairdresser to create the reality they’d like to see.

Everything from connecting to clients to not only make them look great but feel great while also making the most out of your career through being the master of your own creations. I felt like a sponge soaking up all I could from this remarkable evening with a true master. 

 

Nick dishes out thoughtful and sincere responses to the myriad of questions posed by workshop attendees. I gained allot of respect for his warm and genuine character. 

 
 

Truly inspiring! Down to earth, funny, and professional. Meeting Nick has inspired and motivated me to create the reality Id like to see in the beauty industry not to mention creating fabulous coifs!
